1. Aesthetic Look
Cement Boards doesn’t look aesthetically that good when you compare it with the WPC board. It's not a good product to use for furniture application. We don't say it's not possible for you to make furniture using cement boards but is not recommended.
2. Surface Treatment
Only one surface treatment can be carried out on Cement Boards, which is painting, you can't Laminate it nor you can apply Veneer on it. Cement boards are very heavy in weight. In fact, they almost have 3 times more density than WPC/MPC boards. So, when a heavy product is used for any application in a building then it leads to an increase in the overall Dead Load weight of the building which isn’t at all recommended.
3. Hardware Feasibility
This implies that you can use normal hardware accessories that are used in Plywood, MDF, WPC like hinges in Cement Boards or not? Well, those accessories can’t be used in Cement Boards as their weight is very high. If by chance you go onto to fix hinges on the Cement Boards then the hinges which are required are enormously expensive and they have to have a weight load capacity which can digest the weight of the cement board's shutters. Which is a next to impossible task.
4. Workability
We always look forward to whether the product which we are going to buy is a carpenter friendly product or not? Well WPC boards are carpenter friendly products and can be cut using a normal hand saw without any problem. You can use screws but we don’t recommend nailing over it, rather it is very good for hinges that can be used. Also, It is compatible with all different sorts of cylinders like cylinder locks moreover any type of lock can be used here up to a thickness of 30mm. It is very good with a hand router, one can work easily. Hence, skill and knowledge are things that aren’t required in order to carry out the work on WPC boards.
5. Time Consuming
Well, in today's era, time is money and Cement Boards being Grey in color, you can't use them directly in the carcass, wardrobe, vanity, kitchen etc. because grey color doesn't look that rich when it comes to its shine. Hence, you will need to carry out surface treatment on it. WPC boards, on the other hand, are very glossy in nature.
Well, we recommend you using Cement Board for creating a partitioning wall but not for making furniture.
