Differences Between MDF And MPC Grill

Differences Between MDF And MPC Grill

Medium-density fibreboard (MPC) has been in use for a long time in the market but there are a lot of problems which are associated with it that one ignores. Well, if you want to know about these problems along with the substitute of it which solves all the problems associated with MDF, then this is certainly the right blog for you.

1. Core Composition

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is made by compressing wood chips in a Compression Moulding Machines and not via the extrusion process whereas MPC is made via the extrusion process and is a polymer product.

2. Water And Termite

Grills made via MDF boards are not water and termite-proof on the other hand MPC grills are 100% water and termite-proof as it is made via the extrusion process.

3. Not Suitable For Exterior Application

Also, a major point is that we can't use MDF Grills in exterior applications as it is not water and termite-proof rather if you dip MDF in water then after a few minutes you will observe that it starts swelling and expanding. Any application which sees wetness is a place that is not meant for the installation of MDF.

4. Brow Color

The next point is that MDF comes in a brown color. Hence, painting is mandatory in case of MDF like DUCO paint, Melamine Paint, PU paint can be applied to it whereas MPC can also be painted with the same paints. However, it is important to note that painting is not mandatory in MPC i.e you can freely use the product as it comes to you.

5. Cost

The next major factor is that of the cost. Cost is a point which we all look forward to before buying any product. Here, since MDF can't be used in exteriors. Hence we are talking about the interior application wherein it is important to note that when you calculate the cost of MDF, then you need to take into consideration the charges of MDF (i.e the product), lamination, adhesive, labor cost and then compare it with WPC. Also, if you take into consideration the various advantages of WPC boards you will find out that WPC is a product that is cheaper and is the product that you should go for.

As conclusion, we can infer that MDF can be used in Interiors but then too one shouldn't install this product in Washrooms, Kitchens, Facades, Exterior Applications, etc. as all these are the places wherein there is a presence of water, which might destroy the product. Hence, MPC is preferred over MDF here.
